Can I use any portable radio antenna on my radio?
No, antennas are specific to your frequency range. Antennas also differ by model of radio and you may damage your radio if you interchange them which can be a costly repair.
My radio beeps at me twice when I try to talk...
This is the low battery indication. Charge your battery or swap it out for a charged one.
My radio honks at me when I try to talk...
This usually indicates the system is busy or your radio is on a receive only channel. Try to talk again when the system is available or change to a channel you are permitted to transmit on.
I can hear people talking but they can’t hear me...
This problem is usually caused by a bad or missing antenna, or a broken accessory port. Check to see if there is an attached antenna and if the audio accessory is good.
People can hear me but I can’t hear them...
This can be cause by various things such as the speaker being plugged with metal filings, a bad speaker, a bad attached audio accessory such as a speaker mic, the audio accessory jack has gone bad.
If you are using an audio accessory try to swap it out for a good working one otherwise please send your radio in for repair.
How old is my battery?
On your battery usually above the bar code there is a 4 digit number such as 1239.
1239 indicates the battery was made in 2012 on the 39th week of the year.
What do all the different lights mean on the charger?
Please see the bottom of your charger for a legend of what each light means.
Is my Motorola battery or audio accessory under warranty?
Batteries and accessory carry a standard 1 year warranty.
Battery warranty on IMPRES batteries is 1.5years if it has only been charged in an IMPRES charger.
How old is my Motorola audio accessory?
Audio accessories have the same style date code as batteries (see above) and carry a standard 1 year warranty.
My radio won't turn on...
If you cannot turn your radio on manually ensure your power cord is plugged in (red and black cord) and your
vehicle is running.
If you still cannot turn your radio on your ground or positive connections may not be properly terminated or your
fuse may be blown.
If your fuse is blown please contact us to book a service appointment as this could mean you have a short
somewhere in your power line which can be hazardous or damage your radio.
My radio doesn’t turn on when the vehicle turns on... ;
First ensure if your radio has an accessory connector (black plastic connector on rear of radio) that it is plugged in.
If your radio still does not turn on but you can turn it on manually there is likely a problem with your ignition sense line,
the ignition sense line is usually a small gauge wire which tells the radio when the vehicle is on or off and is attached to the accessory connector. Please schedule a time with us to have this repaired.
My radio doesn’t shut off when I turn the vehicle off...
First ensure if your radio has an accessory connector (black plastic connector on rear of radio) that it is plugged in.
If the accessory connector is plugged in and the problem persists the radio may be wired to be live all the time intentionally
or there is a problem with your ignition sense line. The ignition sense line is usually a small gauge wire which tells the
radio when the vehicle is on or off and is attached to the accessory connector. Please schedule a time with us if you need
this changed or fixed.
Your radio may be setup with a shut down timer. If your radio eventually shuts off (may be multiple hours) this is the case.
If you require your shutdown timer to be changed please schedule a time with us to have this completed.

Some people have a different/longer antenna than I do...
A longer antenna does not necessarily mean a better antenna. Different frequencies use different lengths of antennas and there are various styles of antennas for each frequency. Contact us to see which one is right for you.
My radio won't turn on...
If there was a power surge it is possible the power supply has gone into a protective state.
Unplug the power supply from the wall and plug it back in again.
If your radio does not turn on automatically or manually you can place the radio in one of your vehicles to see
if the radio or the power supply is the problem.
